Understanding your finished size

The selected canvas size describes the canvas itself. The floating frame and shadow gap add to the finished outside width and height.

The 10mm frame face sits on each side of the canvas, with a shadow gap between the canvas and frame. The 41mm profile width includes the supporting ledge underneath the canvas; it should not be added as a 41mm border.

If you are fitting artwork into a precise space, contact us with the artwork and selected size so we can confirm the finished outside dimensions before you order.

Approximate outside frame sizes

As a practical guide, allow approximately 3cm extra on both the canvas width and height for the floating frame and shadow gap. A 60 × 60cm canvas therefore measures approximately 63 × 63cm from outside edge to outside edge.

These are approximate sizes, based on a 10mm frame face and a shadow gap of around 4–5mm on each side. They are rounded for planning your wall space. For a close fit or a fixed recess, please ask us to confirm the finished dimensions before ordering.

Square canvases

Canvas size Approx. outside frame size
45 × 45cm 48 × 48cm
60 × 60cm 63 × 63cm
75 × 75cm 78 × 78cm
100 × 100cm 103 × 103cm
125 × 125cm 128 × 128cm

Portrait canvas pairs — each panel

Each pair contains two framed canvases. The measurements below apply to each panel separately; add your chosen hanging gap when planning the complete pair.

Canvas size Approx. outside frame size
20 × 30cm 23 × 33cm
30 × 45cm 33 × 48cm
40 × 60cm 43 × 63cm
50 × 75cm 53 × 78cm
60 × 90cm 63 × 93cm

Triptychs — each panel

Each triptych contains three framed panels. The 120 × 100cm canvas option uses three 40 × 100cm canvases; the 150 × 120cm option uses three 50 × 120cm canvases.

Canvas size Approx. outside frame size
40 × 100cm 43 × 103cm
50 × 120cm 53 × 123cm

The approximate combined framed widths are 129cm and 159cm, respectively, before adding the two hanging gaps between frames. The approximate framed heights are 103cm and 123cm.

For example, leaving 5cm between each frame gives an approximate wall span of 139 × 103cm for the smaller triptych or 169 × 123cm for the larger one. The hanging gap is your styling choice and is separate from the small shadow gap inside each frame.

Pairs and triptychs

For a pair, the stated per-panel size applies to each of the two canvases. For a triptych, check the per-panel dimensions shown in the size option. The combined canvas width is not the final wall span: allow for each panel’s frame and your chosen hanging gaps between panels.
